Gibson Guitars Settle For $350,000 Penalty Over Imported Wood | Online Radio Stations: After nearly three years of denying guilt, guitar maker Gibson, which makes some of the world’s most prized guitars, has agreed to pay $300,000 after admitting to possible illegal purchases of ebony from Madagascar. The penalty also included making a donation of $50,000 to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to promote the protection of endangered hardwood trees, like ebony and rosewood.
